He is the Word of God (John 1:1)
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us (John 1:14).
He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is the Word of God (Rev.19:13).
He is the Source of our life. John 10:10
The thief comes only to kill and steal and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10).
In this verse Jesus draws a strong contrast between Himself and the shepherds of Israel. He also declared Himself to be the messianic Shepherd for whom Israel hoped.
He is the Confidence of our life. John 10:27-30
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one (John 10:27-30).
This is an affirmation both of Jesus' deity and of the biblical doctrine of the Trinity.
He is the Sustenance of our life. John 6:50,51
This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die.
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is My flesh (John 6:50,51).
Jesus is the Bread of Life. As we feed on Him, He nourishes our soul. Jesus is also the Word of God. Therefore, by feeding on the Bread of Life we are feeding on the Word of God. As we break bread in communion we remember and reflect on His broken body and shed blood on the cross, both for our sins, and to reconcile us to the Father. Pray His Holy Spirit will illuminate our hearts to understand.
He is the Object of our life. Philippians 1:21
For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain (Philippians 1:21).
The life that we now live in union with Christ furthers our understanding of the One who gives us His identity and resources despite our sin and weaknesses. We want to fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:1-3).
He is the Example for our Life. 1 Peter 2:21
For this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in His steps (1 Peter 2:21).
Consider Him who endured from sinners such hostility against Himself, so that you may not grow wear or fainthearted. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood (Hebrews 12:3).
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice in so far as you share Christ's sufferings, so that you may also rejoice and be glad when His glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you (1 Peter 4:12-14).
Jesus said, Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both body and soul in hell (Matthew 10:28).
He is the Security of our life. Colossians 3:3,4
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory (Colossians 3:3,4).
He is the Crown of our life. James 1:12
Blessed is the man who remains stedfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him (James 1:12).
